[et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text”]Mayor Koch’s plans for a new public safety headquarters include a major 600-kilowat solar energy system and a parking garage to eventually accommodate a fully electric police vehicle fleet.

The building’s 267-space parking garage for official vehicles will include 30 charging stations, and the garage’s infrastructure would include the ability to add up to 200 stations in the future. The building’s design includes a series of other sustainability measures — including a rooftop solar system on the garage — aimed at making it the most energy-efficient possible for a building that is required to operate 24 hours a day.

The plan was approved by the City Council this week.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column]
